Course Description

Students in this course will learn how to:

• Recognize the human right to self-determination;
• Describe the role of nursing regulation in upholding ethical nursing practice;
• Understand the legal implications of Consent and Confidentiality in patient care related to nursing practice;
• Identify sources of self improvement to enhance individual nursing practice and patient care;
• Utilize critical thinking and the nursing process in nursing practice;
• Comprehend and appreciate the importance and implications of delegation;
• Become familiar with the required documentation to apply for registration for nursing in each province of Canada;
• Become aware of the educational requirements required for registration in each provide of Canada;
• Understand the influences of third party involvement in the registration process that can impact the length of time it will take to complete registration.
• Become aware of the requirements and regulations associated with writing the Canadian Registered Nurse Exam.
