Course Description


This introductory continuing-education course provides healthcare learners with a practical foundation in electrocardiography and ambulatory Holter monitoring. Learners review cardiovascular anatomy and cardiac conduction, the purpose of an ECG, the relationship between electrodes and leads, standard 12-lead ECG acquisition, ECG paper and waveform measurements, common artifacts, Holder-monitoring principles, and a structured approach to basic rhythm-strip review. Selected sinus and atrial rhythms are introduced with emphasis on accurate observation, patient safety, appropriate escalation and communication within the learner’s role and workplace policies.

The course includes clinical scenarios, knowledge checks, troubleshooting activities, red-flag exercises and topic-appropriate interactive video breaks. It is intended for continuing professional development and does not authorize independent ECG diagnosis or treatment.

This course may be useful for medical office assistants who have been trained to perform blood collection in the workplace but who may not have completed a formal stand-alone phlebotomy course.
